Mission and Purpose

Our Mission

The mission of Christian Association for Prison Aftercare (CAPA) is to facilitate the networking of prison aftercare providers and to identify and disseminate information and resources that will build the capacity of their organizations and churches.

Our Purpose and Description

CAPA has been established to provide prison aftercare professionals and volunteers with resources, training and encouragement, as they faithfully serve ex-prisoners and their families. CAPA is a professional association designed to serve and network its members, unite them under a shared vision, and train them for excellence in ministry. Through your membership you will receive invaluable information, encouragement and innovative ideas from fellow members to assist you in building a successful organization and ministry.

As a CAPA member, you will receive a free CAPA membership directory, which is a listing of all members with names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. You will also receive a free subscription to a CAPA link, which will feature the official newsletter providing a quarterly connection to new developments in the field of prison aftercare. Additional benefits include the following: discounts on products and resources through the CAPA Bookstore; discounts on registration for the annual CAPA conference; discounts on training and technical assistance through the CAPA Institute; and discounts on technical assistance by phone.

One of the best investments you can make as a CAPA member is to attend the annual national CAPA conference. There is a great deal of synergy and fellowship that comes from networking together and sharing interests and concerns. We focus on finding better ways to manage the unique combination of organizational and ministry challenges that face you daily.

We know that the benefits a CAPA membership provides will prove invaluable to you. We are here to help you succeed. Join CAPA as we work to build strong organizations and ministries that will better serve the hundreds of thousands of ex-prisoners across the country!

CAPA is a professional association of Transition of Prisoners, Inc., a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization based in Detroit, Michigan.
