U.S. Department of Justice - Office of Justice Programs - Bureau of Justice Assistance

Summary: The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program: National Initiatives. This program furthers the Department's mission by assisting state and local jurisdictions in improving the criminal justice system and assisting communities in preventing drug abuse and crime.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Community Services
Grant Title: Job Opportunities for Low-Income Individuals (JOLI) Program
Due Date: June 2, 2008
Summary: The Department of Health and Human Services has announced grants targeting the development of effective strategies for job training and the development and self-sufficiency for low-income individuals. The overall grant amount is $4.8 million with a total of 9-11 awards to be made for three year periods.

2008 Reentry Public Safety Initiative Technical Assistance Project - Taking Innovative Steps in Addressing Reentry

Summary: To support reentry public safety initiatives and projects in up to eight Weed and Seed communities affected by high numbers of returning ex-offenders, high recidivism rates and challenges in coordinating resources and services to achieve safer, more stable communities.

Ex-Offender College Scholarship
Summary: The Institute for Prison Ministries (IPM) is offering Undergraduate or Graduate degree scholarships for ex-offenders to attend Wheaton College.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Family and Youth Services Bureau
Grant Title: Basic Center Program - $12.5 million / 91 awards
Due Date: February 19, 2008

Summary: The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) is accepting applications for the Basic Center Program (BCP), which is authorized by the Runaway and Homeless Act to address runaway and homeless youth (RHY) problems. BCPs provide an alternative for runaway and homeless youth who might otherwise end up with law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems. Each BCP must provide runaway and homeless youth with a safe and appropriate shelter, individual, family, and group counseling as appropriate, and aftercare. Faith-based and community organizations are eligible to apply.
